It has been so long since I have held one I can not say much more then that I did not have a lot of trigger time on then just played one once in passing really. One of the great things about growing up an Army brat is that people where coming and going from all over the USA and the World so you got to see a little bit of everything even inthe band room I do recall the finish on those being super thick. Is the lacquer or Epoxy on yours really thick if so that would explain the slow responce.
![]() Trumpet King 600 Pro Horn TheBear in mind that it is a student horn and is not going to have the responce time of an ultra light weight pro horn The only easy day was yesterday. But I should also note that a 40s supposed less than pro model has the most beautiful tone of many of them. I dont play it because the valves need rebuilding but still, quite a nice horn. The Tempos and Tempo IIs seem to be abberations in the line as they just dont seem up to the normal standards of the company. Possibly just the time they were made and the changes in ownership. I play a King 601 everyday and it is reliable and less than 200 on ebay for one in good shape. Its response is very slow, but overall its a reliable student horn to get you through playing day to day. Now sometimes it will come up with a wrong word for the context and if I am not careful when clicking to make the corrections something like finestrange could end up being finest range or Fine Strange one makes sense the other does not but neither is spelled wrong. I never purposely mis-use any words and I do not use improper scientific or engineering terms. When I make a mistake it is simply that a mistake I make plenty of them and do not pretend not to The only easy day was yesterday. It worked best with a very large (Schilke 15C4) mouthpiece, but absolutely SCREAMED with a JetTone MF mouthpiece. The second chair played a MF 302 and when he played my Tempo added a fifth to his range and sounded HUGE, much fuller than his Holton. Since all other motivesfame, money, power, even honorare thrown out the window the moment I pick up that instrument. I play because I love doing it, even when the results are disappointing. ![]()
